If you don't do a good job, everyone losses.  Writing is the hardest part of that job.  If you have that part down, great!  Editing should be a formality, a necessary evil if you must.  It shouldn't be the thing that kills your chances of reaching the reader. 

 

When you are done with the hard part and your writing is ready for the next level, get it edited and share your wonderful gift with your readers.  After all, they are what matters.
